What is HSI?

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) is an office within Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). HSI’s mission includes investigating cross-border criminal activity in the U.S. and overseas such as human trafficking. However, in practice, much of HSI's work involves assisting other ICE agencies to deport immigrants. In 2020, HSI officers were accused of engaging in sexual acts with women who were part of a trafficking investigation conducted by the office.
